What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

What I enjoy most about tutoring is helping students understand something that initially may be confusing to them. I like breaking concepts down step by step and finding explanations that suit how each student learns.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I believe my main strengths as a tutor are my ability to explain concepts clearly and adapt my explanations to different students, and I'm also able to take the time to understand where a student is struggling to assist them in that regard. I also strive to help develop good problem-solving habits rather than just giving answers, which would assist students greatly.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I think the most important things a tutor can do are to help students understand the material, and develop good learning habits. A tutor should be able to identify gaps in understanding, explain concepts in a way that suits the student, and create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable.

About Kevin

High-achieving maths and science graduate

Kevin is a recent high school graduate with top-band results in advanced Mathematics and strong performance in Physics and Chemistry, giving him a deep understanding of the concepts students often find challenging. He knows the current school curriculum first-hand and can clearly explain tricky ideas step by step. With solid English skills as well, this tutor helps students not only solve problems but also show their working and reasoning in a way that earns marks in exams and assignments.

Hands-on experience supporting young learners

Kevin has worked in a tutoring centre as a marking and support assistant, where he regularly checked student worksheets and helped organise learning materials. This experience means he understands how students progress through skills, where they commonly make mistakes, and how to give clear, constructive feedback. He is used to structured learning programs and brings that same organised, methodical approach to one-on-one sessions, helping students build confidence through consistent practice and small, achievable goals.

Patient, organised and relatable role model

As a recent school leaver, Kevin connects easily with both primary and high school students, remembering exactly what it feels like to face tests, homework and pressure. His background in piano to an advanced level shows discipline, patience and an ability to break complex tasks into manageable steps, which he applies directly to teaching maths and science. Semi-fluent in Mandarin, he can support bilingual families and explain ideas in simple, clear language, making learning feel approachable rather than intimidating.
