With my experience of trying to entertain my younger sisters for hours on end whilst teaching them, I have learned how to cater to children who dislike math, and show them that math can be fun!
In her STEM leadership role, Emily helped organise academic activities and supported classmates who were struggling with coursework, often breaking down tricky concepts into step-by-step explanations. She has also been involved in a Social Justice Club, giving her a strong sense of empathy and fairness when working with younger students. This tutor brings the calm, organised approach of a student leader, combined with the patience to go over a topic several times until it truly βclicksβ for each learner.
Emilyβs volunteer work, including supporting a Breakfast Club and representing her school at community networking events, shows that she genuinely enjoys helping others feel included and supported. She uses this same attitude in tutoring by creating a friendly, low-pressure space where students feel comfortable asking questions. Drawing on her own study routines and exam preparation strategies, she helps students set realistic goals, track their progress, and celebrate small wins, making learning maths more approachable and less stressful.
