What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
What I enjoy most about tutoring is the opportunity to build genuine connections with younger learners and support them in a way that helps them grow in confidence and ability. I realised as a teacher aide that a students development isn't purely academic, but also building in confidence, resilience, communication and social skills. Being able to contribute to this growth is what I cherish and look forward to the most as a tutor.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
One of my key strengths as a tutor is my ability to identify gaps in a student’s understanding and break concepts down into clear, manageable, and engaging steps that make learning feel achievable. I relate easily to students and take the time to understand how each individual learns, allowing me to adapt my approach to suit their strengths, needs, and areas for growth. I have experience teaching students with various disabilities/special needs and have much patience and support in this area.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is help them feel capable and supported. Many students who seek tutoring already experience self-doubt or frustration because they feel behind their peers. By identifying these gaps, setting achievable goals, and providing consistent encouragement through the learning process, a tutor can rebuild confidence alongside academic skills. When students begin to see that improvement is possible, their motivation and engagement naturally increase and they smash goals they never would have thought were possible.

About Reuben
Classroom-Tested Maths Support for Years 5–8
Reuben is an experienced teacher assistant who has spent multiple days each week in Years 5–8 maths classrooms, helping deliver the Australian curriculum. He regularly works with small groups and one-to-one, reinforcing key numeracy skills and breaking down tricky concepts into clear, manageable steps. This tutor is used to preparing learning materials, marking work and guiding students through problem-solving, so he understands exactly where school maths can become confusing and how to get students back on track.
Strong Role Model with Coaching and Mentoring Experience
Beyond the classroom, Reuben has coached a school basketball team of Year 9 students over a full season, combining discipline, encouragement and clear communication. This experience shows in his tutoring style: he sets achievable goals, gives specific feedback and celebrates progress, however small. He has also supported students with learning difficulties, adapting activities and offering one-on-one guidance, so he is comfortable working with a wide range of abilities and personalities. Parents can expect a calm, consistent and encouraging presence.
Future Business Student Who Makes Learning Relatable
Reuben completed senior secondary studies across English, Mathematics, Economics, Psychology, Business Studies and Accounting, achieving an ATAR above 80. He is now studying business, with subjects like accounting and economics keeping his maths skills sharp. He enjoys using real-world examples—from sport scores to simple business scenarios—to show why maths and English matter beyond the classroom. With a good sense of humour and a down-to-earth style, this tutor helps students feel at ease while steadily building their confidence and independence.
