What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

The concept of making students really understand a topic and seeing them perform to their best ability and improve satisfies me. Moreover, answering their questions and sharing my own experience and knowledge makes me feel like I am part of their success journey and that is quite enjoyable.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I am really patient and able to explain concepts to students in a way they can understand. Further, I am good at observing people so I can tell when a student is struggling or unable to grasp a concept. As I have been in their shoes myself, I can relate to them personally and I believe such a connection helps me treat students as my friends and help them comfortably ask questions or answer any queries they have.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I reckon the most important thing is to understand a student’s weakness, where they mess up or the concepts they are uncomfortable with. Through such understanding, the tutor can make personalised practice/tutoring that can help the student reach their goals.

About Shalini

Emerging Maths Mentor with Strong Academic Results

Shalini is a high-achieving recent school graduate who is keen to support primary and high school students in maths. Having completed her senior studies with results in the top 10%, she understands current curriculum expectations and common problem areas for students. This tutor is especially suited to Years 8–10 and early VCE maths, explaining concepts in clear, step-by-step ways that build confidence. Shalini brings the perspective of someone who has recently succeeded at the same content your child is learning now.

Proven Student Leader and Peer Supporter

As International School Captain, Shalini regularly mentored younger students, helping them balance schoolwork with social pressures and study routines. She represented student concerns to teachers, led inclusion projects and helped run school events, giving her strong communication and organisational skills. In practice, this means she can quickly build rapport, listen carefully to what a student is struggling with, and then break tasks into manageable goals so they feel heard, supported and capable.

Clear Communicator with a Calm, Structured Approach

Shalini’s background in public speaking and event planning shows in the way she explains ideas: organised, calm and easy to follow. She often draws on real-life examples and simple analogies to make abstract maths topics feel more concrete. Used to managing busy environments, she stays patient under pressure and encourages students to ask questions without embarrassment. This tutor aims to create sessions that feel relaxed but purposeful, where students leave each lesson knowing exactly what they’ve improved and what comes next.
