What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
Watching the instant when a student goesfrom being anxious to confident. I remember as a tutoringstudent myself from a young age, what it felt like to walk into sessions feeling completely overwhelmed by difficult subject material. To be able to now provide that sort of help is incredibly satisfying. I enjoy the challenge of getting a difficult topic and explain it in small steps until a students feels like they can solve it. So the most rewarding thing is watchinga student become convinced of their own potential and develop a love for learning that allowed me to be successful
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I'm currently a student at USYD and graduated high-school in 2025 with an ATAR of 95.25, showing that I have a high level understanding of the syllabus and it's requirements. I have a fresh understanding of specific marking criteria's and key aspects markers look for in students responses. I have been a student in tutoring since I was 8, therefore am aware of various teaching styles that can work for students. I can teach Maths ext 1, Maths adv, Biology, chemistry.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important thing a tutor can do for a student would be to bring confidence into them. I've learnt though school that it's not the level of intelligence of a student that matters, but their attitude towards the goals. Altering the ‘I can’t do this’ attitude by breaking down the hard topics would enable me to prepare them for the HSC in such a way that they are able to cope with stress. When a student with an aim of scoring a 90+ ATAR stops viewing it as impossible and begins looking at it as possible thats when real learning begins.

About shiba
Strong Recent Academic Background in Maths and English
Shiba is a recent high-school graduate who has completed advanced English and Extension Maths, along with Biology and Chemistry. She has experienced a range of teaching styles through her own tutoring, giving her a clear sense of what helps students grasp tricky concepts in maths and English. This tutor understands current school expectations and syllabuses, and can translate that into clear explanations, step-by-step problem solving, and practical strategies for improving marks in assessments and exams.
Relatable Role Model for Primary and High School Students
As someone who has recently been through both selective and non-selective schooling, Shiba is highly relatable to today’s students. She can guide learners through the jump from primary to high school maths and English, and help older students manage subject loads and study routines. Drawing on her own experience balancing demanding subjects, she shows students how to break tasks into manageable pieces, build confidence, and stay organised across homework, assignments, and revision.
Engaging, Team-Focused Approach to Learning
Shiba’s background in team sports, including playing in her school netball team for several years, shapes her cooperative tutoring style. She treats each lesson like a partnership, encouraging students to ask questions, think out loud, and learn from mistakes. With strengths in communication, creativity, and problem solving, this tutor uses different explanations, examples, and practice questions until the student genuinely understands, helping them feel comfortable, supported, and ready to tackle new challenges.
