What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

What I enjoy most about tutoring is seeing the moment when someone understands something they’ve been struggling with, and knowing that I played a part in helping them grow. I love being able to explain concepts in ways that make sense to the learner, and I really enjoy encouraging confidence, persistence, and curiosity.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I would say my main strengths as a tutor are patience and kindness. Through my experience at CYC Ministries as a Cabin Leader, I developed patience by working closely with children of different ages and abilities, learning how to guide them at their own pace. I also focus on kindness, creating a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable to ask questions, and creating a safe environment.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is help them enjoy what they are learning. When students find learning fun and engaging, they’re more motivated, confident, and willing to try new things. A good tutor makes lessons interesting, encourages questions, and celebrates progress so that learning becomes a positive experience.

About Sebastian

Youth Leader Who Connects Easily With Kids and Teens

Sebastian brings several years of hands-on experience working with children and teenagers through school holiday camps and Scouts leadership. He regularly supervises groups over multi-day programs, keeping students engaged, safe and included. This tutor is used to managing high-energy environments, calming nerves and encouraging quieter kids to participate. Parents can feel confident that he understands how young people think and behave, and knows how to explain ideas in a way that feels friendly, respectful and age-appropriate.

Strong Maths Student With Clear, Practical Explanations

Having recently completed secondary school with high academic recognition, including a top performance award in Business, Sebastian has a solid grounding in maths and related problem-solving. He focuses on making maths less intimidating by breaking concepts into small, logical steps and using practical, real-life examples. Drawing on his experience mentoring younger students at camps, he adjusts his explanations to suit different learning styles, checking understanding as he goes so no one feels rushed or left behind.

Reliable Role Model Who Builds Confidence

As a trusted leader in both camp and Scout settings, Sebastian is used to being the person younger students look to for guidance, structure and encouragement. He brings this same calm, organised approach to tutoring sessions, setting clear goals and celebrating small improvements. His interests in hiking, reading and photography help him relate to students beyond the textbook, making lessons feel more personal and engaging. This tutor aims not just to lift marks, but to build each student’s confidence and independence in learning.
