What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

The thing I enjoy the most about tutoring is seeing the drastic growth that students are able to demonstrate over time- it makes the effort all the more rewarding.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

My strengths are understanding what it feels like to be a learner, and being able to present information in a way that makes sense for them, as we don't all have the same way of learning. Additionally, being engaging is another crucial strength for a tutor, as the majority of children are sick of the classroom and want to both resonate with the teacher, and be presented with an eagerness towards learning which then reflects back onto them.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

Encouragement and support are both vital, as they build self-confidence in the learner which acts as positive reinforcement, making the learner more likely to succeed in the future. Other crucial aspects include: being able to understand the individual way which each student learns and adjusting teaching style to their preferences. Being engaging is also important, as no one wants a monotone teacher. Information retention is far greater when the learner is enjoying what they're doing.

About Jordan

Emerging tutor with strong leadership and communication skills

Jordan is a recent secondary school graduate who already brings extensive leadership experience to his tutoring. As a former house captain and year level representative, he has led large groups of students, spoken confidently at assemblies, and worked closely with teachers to improve student wellbeing. This tutor is highly organised, reliable, and used to managing responsibilities, making him well suited to help primary and high school students stay on top of their English and Maths work in a calm, structured way.

Practical experience working with children and teens

Jordan has spent several years working directly with young people in a variety of settings. He has coached junior basketball teams, planning and running engaging training sessions that break down complex skills into simple steps. He has also led multiple children’s holiday programs, helping to plan and supervise activities for primary-aged students. These experiences mean he is comfortable managing different personalities, keeping students focused, and creating sessions that are both productive and enjoyable.

Positive role model who builds confidence

Through his roles as a basketball referee and coach, Jordan has developed strong conflict resolution skills and the ability to make clear, fair decisions under pressure—qualities that translate well to guiding students through challenging schoolwork. He understands how to encourage participation, foster team spirit, and support quieter students to have a voice. This tutor aims to be a steady, relatable role model, helping students build confidence in their learning, stay motivated, and develop good study habits that last beyond tutoring sessions.
