Matthew is an undergraduate mechanical and biomedical engineering student with a strong background in Calculus, Physics and general problem solving. Finishing school as top of his year and now thriving in an engineering degree, he understands exactly what’s needed to bridge the gap between classroom theory and real understanding. He enjoys breaking complex ideas into simple, visual steps, especially for students who feel “not good at Maths” yet. His goal is to build confidence as well as marks for primary and high school students.
This tutor regularly designs and builds hands-on engineering projects, from a room temperature sensor using Arduino and 3D printing to an automatic plant shade system using UV sensors and programmed controls. He has also led a senior project creating an LED baseball base prototype, taking it from concept to tested design and school-wide presentation. These experiences mean Matthew can show students how classroom Maths and Physics connect to real inventions, making lessons more engaging and memorable.
Through formal peer leadership, Matthew has guided younger students in adjusting to high school, answering academic questions and helping them plan for success. His experience in leadership and lifeguarding has sharpened his communication, calmness under pressure and ability to keep students focused and safe. He brings this same steady, encouraging presence to tutoring, tailoring explanations to each student and using their interests—such as sport, engineering or technology—to keep them motivated and proud of their progress.
