What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

The best part about tutoring is helping another student understand something they didn't previously understand. I always feel a sense of satisfaction and joy in being able to help someone develop their ideas about the subject they are learning and the world around them. Being a tutor, I am able to build a relationship with students and make a real difference in their learning.

My Strengths as Tutor πŸ’ͺ

I believe I am a persistent person. If someone doesn't understand something, I won't simply give up because my initial explanation didn't help them; I keep trying until they do understand. I'm also an empathetic person. As a tutor I understand my role is not only to help students with the subjects I tutor, it is also to help them grow as a student. Being empathetic helps me understand how to change my teaching method to suit each student best.

Most important things I can do for a student πŸ…

I think anyone can teach content from a textbook, but the most important thing a tutor should do is identify what the student doesn't understand. The student should be comfortable to ask questions about their the content they are learning, and the tutor should be able to provide a safe environment to do so.

About Prasitha

Engaging Science Student Who Relates to School-Life Challenges

Prasitha is a Bachelor of Science student who understands the demands of primary and high school, having recently completed her own schooling with consistently outstanding reports. She brings strong problem-solving skills from her science studies into her tutoring, helping students break tricky Maths and English tasks into clear, manageable steps. As someone who balances study with hobbies like photography and walking, she connects well with students and shows them practical ways to stay focused and organised.

Real Classroom Experience Teaching Younger Students

This tutor has hands-on teaching experience through several months of working with younger students in a community language program. There, she planned and delivered lessons, explained concepts in simple language and supported students with different learning speeds. She regularly used patience and empathy to help quieter or less confident learners participate. This experience means she is comfortable managing small groups, checking understanding through questions and tailoring explanations until each student genuinely β€œgets it”.

Calm, Well-Organised Support with Student Wellbeing in Mind

Prasitha brings a calm, reassuring presence to her sessions, supported by formal mental health first aid training and a current Working With Children Check. She is highly organised, having led a multi-week school project where she coordinated a persuasive campaign and met tight deadlines. In tutoring, she uses these skills to structure lessons clearly, set achievable goals and provide regular feedback to parents. Her focus is on building confidence, not just marks, so students feel comfortable asking questions and trying new strategies.
