What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I've always enjoyed learning and tutoring in my perspective is also a form of learning where you look at a subject through the lens of the student you are teaching. Tutoring allows you to gain a deeper and unique outlook into a subject you may already be familiar with, making it appear fresh in your eyes.

My Strengths as Tutor πŸ’ͺ

I think i am able to explain concepts in a very simplified manner. Majority of my friends aren't pursing a STEM degree like me but i still enjoy telling them what my classes look like so i have a lot of experience using analogies that help understand complex subjects easier and also how to make jargon seem less intimidating.

Most important things I can do for a student πŸ…

Removing the feeling of being intimidated to learn something that looks extremely complex. The amount of specific terminology in physics, maths and even english to a extent stops many people from pursing them long term or to a higher level or convinces students they are incapable of learning it. I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is instilling a sense of confidence in them and a curiosity to learn.

About Jesika

Peer Tutor with Real Classroom Insight

Jesika is a recent high school graduate who has already spent time as a peer tutor, helping younger students build their comprehension skills in English. She knows what it feels like to be on both sides of the classroom and uses that to explain ideas in a way that actually makes sense to schoolaged learners. Her strong timemanagement and communication skills mean she can structure sessions clearly, keep students on track, and gently guide them towards more independent learning.

Engaging Communicator Who Connects with Students

Through drama club, where she acted in plays and helped create props, Jesika has learnt how to bring stories and ideas to lifeβ€”an advantage when tutoring reading, writing and analysis. She speaks English, Hindi and Nepali, which helps her relate to multilingual students and explain tricky concepts in different ways. Parents can expect a tutor who listens carefully, asks good questions, and makes even shy students feel comfortable enough to participate.

Leadership, Responsibility and Creative Learning

Jesika’s involvement in school charity and environmental teams shows she can take initiative and follow through on responsibilities, from organising wholeschool events to promoting fundraisers. She brings this same sense of organisation into her tutoring, planning sessions with clear goals and simple steps. Her skills in photography and graphic design also allow her to create visually engaging resources, such as illustrated worksheets and creative prompts, to keep primary and early high school students motivated and curious.
