I enjoy seeing students go from confused or unsure to confident. The best part is helping them understand something that once felt difficult, then watching them realise they can do it. A tutor should make the student feel capable by building understanding, not just giving answers. The most important thing is to teach students how to think and solve problems independently, while also giving them confidence and structure. Today, as part of her unit outline, Josset worked on graphing quadratic equations. We learned how to graph quadratics and then applied these skills to an application question. Josset continues to be an attentive and hardworking learner in class. It is always incredible to see how quickly she picks up new concepts—once something is explained, she is often able to immediately apply what she has learned to the next practice problem. She approaches her work with focus and a positive attitude, and it is wonderful to see her confidence and understanding continue to grow.
I have also attached this week’s homework sheet for Josset to complete. It includes practice on what we learned today, as well as revision of concepts we have covered previously. All of the question types on the sheet have already been taught and discussed in class, so she knows what to do and can use the homework as an opportunity to consolidate her understanding and build confidence through further practice.

Michelle is very intelligent girl. I believe she just needs to sleep at 10:30am and wake up at 6:00am to do 1 hour of maths daily before school. (I'm always happy to provide the maths problems if needed.) With it as a routine(as studying in afternoon can cause lack of motivation) she can go miles.

Josett has improved a lot. She can now solve more complex questions confidentially. I believe with allocating 1 hour a day to Algebra and Indices she can achieve an A grade in her test. The progress is remarkable. For next week I'm going to move on to do algebra questions from year 11 methods as I believe her level is there now.
With continuous daily algebra questions, her confident will only grow. With the topic is really time dependent as more time spent will do better outside of lessons. But she understands everything taught perfectly and is doing great.
