What do I enjoy most about tutoring? ๐Ÿ˜

I love learning, and I love sharing what I learn. There's something really satisfying about explaining a concept in different ways until it finally clicks for someone. That moment when a student goes from confused to confident is the best part. Teaching also helps me reflect on my own learning. It reminds me what it felt like to struggle with something and keeps me grounded.

My Strengths as Tutor ๐Ÿ’ช

Empathy. I've recently been a student struggling with difficult material, so I can relate to what students are going through. I remember what it's like to feel lost in a topic, and I use that to be patient and meet students where they are instead of rushing through explanations.

Most important things I can do for a student ๐Ÿ…

Beyond teaching the content, I think the most important thing a tutor can do is shape a student's attitude towards learning. Building good work ethic, showing them how to approach problems independently, and helping them believe they're capable of improving. The grades will follow, but the mindset is what sticks with them long term.

About Mike

High-Achieving Maths & Science Specialist

Mike is a high-performing engineering graduate now completing a Masterโ€™s in Artificial Intelligence, bringing strong expertise in maths, physics, chemistry and general science. He has consistently ranked near the top of his cohort and achieved more than 90% in advanced subjects such as calculus, statistics and higher-level physics. With a background in both an American curriculum and the IB, he understands different school systems and assessment styles, making him especially effective for Years 7โ€“12, including senior exam preparation.

Experienced at Explaining Complex Ideas Clearly

As a teaching assistant for a university-level computer vision course, Mike led tutorials, broke down challenging mathematical and technical ideas, and supported students one-on-one when they were stuck. He also helped design and mark assignments, so he knows what examiners look for and how to guide students towards full-mark answers. His work on an AI-based teaching analytics project further sharpened his ability to communicate clearly with non-technical teachers, a skill he now uses to make tricky concepts feel manageable for school students.

Calm, Patient Tutor Who Builds Confidence

Mike is known for being patient, easy to talk to and genuinely interested in how each student thinks. He likes to work through real exam-style questions together, then create targeted practice around a studentโ€™s weak spots. Drawing on his competition experience from a major hackathon, he teaches students how to stay calm under time pressure and tackle problems step by step. Whether online or in person, this tutor focuses on building confidence as well as marks, so students start to feel in control of their learning.
