What do I enjoy most about tutoring? ๐
The part I enjoyed the most about tutoring is sharing my knowledge. While knowledge is readily available through the internet, it can still be hard to understand certain topics such as mathematics. A tutor can bridge this gap between knowledge and understanding and make sure students succeed in their goals.
My Strengths as Tutor ๐ช
I have 10 months of experience as a Teaching Assistant in university. Part of this job was to help students with homework and answer other questions about the course. While I only did this job for computer science courses, I believe I can apply this experience to tutor other subjects. Additionally, I have earned a Bachelor of Science in computer science with a minor in mathematics, so I have the knowledge to tutor students up to the highest level of math in high school. Finally, I have built strong verbal and written communication skills through my experiences at university.
Most important things I can do for a student ๐
The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to promote confidence in a student. After a tutoring session, the goal should not be for a student to be able to complete their homework. Instead, the student should gain an understanding of the topic such that they can complete future coursework without the help of a tutor. If that understanding is achieved, then hopefully the student will have the confidence to continue succeeding in the subject that was tutored.

Paying attention to every detail in a network. Networks contain a lot of information, so it is very understandable that she may struggle with that (I struggle too)
Kiera is improving at using sin, cos, and tan to complete trigonometry questions.

Still struggling with inverse trig functions. Also, she got confused when presented with more information than is necessary to finish a problem. She struggled with picking the correct function or method to use.
Kiera completed the trigonometry HW I gave her perfectly. I'm very happy to see her progress with trig functions.

Applying trig functions to a word problem, or the type of problem you'd see in the HSC. These problems often have an extra step to take before using math, and we need to practice that.

Kiera did very well at completing her networks HW and did not need my help completing most of the problems. It seems that she has the problem-solving aspect down, and knows how to solve each problem.
Still struggling with linear equations, and using the formula y=mx+b to define a line.
