What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

What I enjoy most about tutoring/teaching is witnessing a student move from uncertainty to confidence in their academic ability. When the roles were reversed and I received tutoring myself during my school years, I experienced first hand the difference a personalised teaching style can make to a student's academic life. I also find it immensely rewarding when a concept that once felt overwhelming suddenly 'clicks' for students. It is these moments of clarity that are the most enjoyable to witness as a tutor as they can completely shift a student's mindset.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

One of my key strengths would be my ability to break down complex concepts into smaller, more digestible steps. This is something I developed not only through my high band results in HSC English Advanced and Extension, and strong results in Mathematics Advanced, but also during my time as a dance instructor. This was a role that required me to adjust my explanations to each individual child and each student's learning style, skills that are transferable to academic tutoring. My background has strengthened my patience and my ability to support and encourage students.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

To build academic confidence. This is an area where tutors have a crucial role as many students struggle academically due to self doubt rather than an inherent lack of ability. A tutor can step in to be that safe space, allowing students to ask question and be comfortable making mistakes. I also believe providing attainable goals, frameworks and clear strategies for skill development, particularly for high school students, to be among the most important things a tutor can do.

About Sabrina

From Dance Studio to Classroom: Confident, Engaging Educator

Sabrina brings strong teaching experience from her work as a dance instructor for children aged 5–15, where she planned structured lessons, managed class behaviour and kept a wide range of abilities engaged. She is used to breaking skills into clear, achievable steps and adjusting on the spot when a student is stuck. Sabrina has also prepared students for formal examinations and performances, so she understands how to build confidence over time and keep young learners motivated towards a goal.

Strong Academic Background in English and Maths

Having completed advanced English and maths in her senior studies, Sabrina is well equipped to support primary and lower high school students in these core subjects. She has balanced a demanding academic load with extensive co-curricular commitments, giving her first-hand insight into time management, study strategies and exam preparation. Sabrina uses this experience to help students organise their work, unpack tricky questions and develop clear written responses, especially in English.

Natural Youth Mentor with Creative Flair

Beyond formal teaching, Sabrina has been a peer support leader, running weekly sessions to help younger students settle into high school and feel safe to ask questions. As a former music captain and orchestra member, she is skilled at encouraging shy students, using creative examples from music and the arts to make learning less intimidating and more memorable. Parents can expect a tutor who is calm, organised and genuinely enjoys connecting with young people, not just coaching them through worksheets.
