What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I enjoy being able to share my knowledge and help other people. It really makes me happy when students have that moment of realisation regarding how to implement basic skills to solve a complex topic.

My Strengths as Tutor πŸ’ͺ

I do my best to find out the way the student best learns (e.g through being guided through it or only intervening when they go wrong, ect.) and implement this in order to assure that the student learns and remains engaged. I do my best to break down challenging topics into simple and understandable terms to make it easier to comprehend. I also work to reinforce basic skills as I have typically found that gaps in this foundational learning tends to be a students biggest problem when attempting to solve more challenging problems.

Most important things I can do for a student πŸ…

The most important things a tutor can do for their student is reinforce their confidence as well as help build their skills and knowledge. The student has obviously come to you for help because they need guidance and assistance to help build their skills however I find that building their confidence is just as important at times because when students find something frustrating and hard they typically don’t even want to try. Building a students confidence means the difference between flipping through a math test and going, β€œthat’s too hardÒ€ and filling it out to the best of your ability.

About Madalyne

Strong Maths Background with Real Tutoring Experience

Madalyne is a university student studying actuarial studies, a highly mathematical degree that builds strong skills in algebra, statistics and problem solving. She has already tutored two Year 9 students in mathematics for two and a half hours each week, giving her hands-on experience explaining tricky concepts in clear, simple steps. This tutor understands the school curriculum and is comfortable supporting students who need both revision of the basics and extension beyond the classroom.

Organised, Reliable and Great with Young People

Through her studies and various responsibilities, Madalyne has developed excellent organisation and time-management skills, which flow directly into her lesson planning and homework support. She has experience balancing study with regular commitments, so she can help students set realistic goals and routines. Her background in customer-facing roles means she is confident, approachable and able to build quick rapport with young learners who may feel nervous or unsure about maths.

Practical, Problem-Solving Approach to Learning

This tutor loves problem-solving and uses that strength to make maths feel more like a puzzle than a chore. In her previous tutoring, she tailored sessions to each student, breaking down exam-style questions and creating step-by-step methods they could reuse independently. She draws on her data-focused university work to show students how maths connects to real-life situations, helping them see a purpose behind what they are learning and building their confidence for tests and assignments.
