Verified Tutor
Dahan is a university student studying History and Linguistics, giving her a strong foundation in reading, writing and analytical thinking that translates directly into English tutoring. She speaks four languages – English, French, Turkish and Norwegian – which helps her explain tricky concepts in clear, accessible ways and connect with students from diverse backgrounds. Her ongoing academic success in language-focused subjects means she can support students with essay structure, comprehension, grammar and vocabulary in a way that feels approachable and confidence-building.
Through her customer-facing roles, this tutor has spent many hours explaining information clearly, listening carefully and staying calm under pressure – the same skills that help a nervous student feel at ease. She is used to breaking down complex or unfamiliar information into simple steps, checking for understanding and adjusting her approach on the spot. Parents can expect a tutor who is reliable, organised and able to build positive rapport quickly, especially with students who may be shy or unsure of themselves.
Having lived and worked across different communities and languages, Dahan brings a broad, culturally aware perspective to her sessions. She often draws on real-world examples, everyday language and cross-cultural comparisons to make reading tasks and language exercises more engaging for students. Her background in French and linguistics allows her to design tailored vocabulary and grammar activities, while her interest in history helps her bring context and stories into lessons, making learning feel more like a conversation than a classroom lecture.

By the end of the lesson he seemed to understand the construction of whole sentences when answering a question, additionally he did well during the grammar exercises and in breaking down big words to spell
He was quite distracted during the lesson and didn't want to do the reading or comprehension which led him to misread frequently. Despite his distraction, however, a consistent error is misreading 's' at the end of a word (mum's -> mum etc). Additionally while he could confidently break down the spelling of bigger words, he struggled sometimes with spelling smaller words. I encourage him to read and write more frequently so that he may memorise spellings of important words and may understand grammar more intuitively.

She did that really well this lesson and explained that she did that at school at well (and that it helped) which was great to hear. She was more confident answering the questions and in explaining to me how the questions may be answered
As of right now, she still needs a bit of guidance with dealing with the question, she sometimes gets confused with the working out or what to do next, which comes with reading the question repeatedly and understanding the method, which we will continue enhancing

As established in the previous session, the tutoring should focus on the fundamentals and work from there. His spelling and his reading skills need work and from there his writing ability will improve. I suggest he develop more of a habit around reading and continue working on his spelling. Mathematics is not a big priority now though I would like to understand where he is at with subtraction , division and multiplication
