What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

What I enjoy most about tutoring is being able to see the progress of students in their learning journey and witness students being able to achieve their academic goals.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I believe my strengths as a tutor are empathy and patience. My younger brother was always a slow learner, so I always tried to make sure he understood the basics before moving on to the next stage. I believe it is best to think of learning as a journey rather than a race because every child learns in their own unique way and at their own pace.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to support them by passing on knowledge and providing resources. I believe learning goes beyond reading a textbook. Tutors must support children to go out of their comfort zone to attempt challenging questions so they can stand out in their cohort.

About Jess

Strong Maths and English Foundations for School Success

Jess is an Information Technology undergraduate who completed advanced secondary subjects in General Mathematics, Maths Methods and English, along with sciences such as Biology and Chemistry. This tutor understands the step-by-step logic students need in maths and can explain tricky concepts in clear, simple language. With experience in debating and a wide range of humanities and language electives, she helps students build confident written and spoken English, from sentence structure and essays to everyday communication.

Clear Communicator Who Connects With Young People

Through her volunteer role supporting patients and families in a hospital ward, Jess has developed calm, patient communication skills and the ability to explain information clearly under pressure. Her background in customer-facing roles means she is used to listening carefully, answering questions and adapting her approach to different personalities. This tutor brings that same friendly, composed manner to lessons, creating a space where students feel comfortable asking questions and trying again when something is hard.

Organised, Tech-Savvy Tutor With a Practical Approach

Studying cybersecurity and business information systems, Jess uses her strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills to break learning into manageable steps. She is confident with tools like Microsoft 365 and basic coding, and can weave simple tech-based activities into sessions to keep students engaged, especially those interested in computers. With a focus on time management and organisation, this tutor helps students plan homework, set realistic goals and develop study habits that support both maths and English progress.
