What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

What I enjoy most about tutoring is helping students gain confidence in their subjects. It's really rewarding to see a concept click for a student when they were originally feeling unsure about. I also enjoy the process of breaking down complex ideas into simpler steps and finding different ways to explain them so they make sense to each student.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I think my main strengths as a tutor are patience and communication. I understand that every student learns differently, so I try to adjust my explanations and teaching style to suit their needs. I'm also approachable and encouraging, which helps students feel comfortable asking questions and engaging with the material without feeling intimidated.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I believe one of the most important things a tutor can do is create a supportive and positive learning environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and asking questions. A tutor should also focus on building a student's confidence and helping them develop the skills to think through problems independently, rather than just giving them the answers.

About Kaya

Friendly role model with real experience supporting younger students

Kaya is a criminology student with a strong background in English and Maths Applications from her senior schooling, making her well suited to support primary and lower high school students. As a Peer Support Leader, she guided new Year 7s through their transition to high school, led school tours for parents, and helped younger students settle into a new environment. This experience means she understands how to build rapport quickly, explain things clearly, and create a calm, encouraging space for students who may feel nervous or unsure.

Organised, reliable and great at breaking tasks into manageable steps

Through her studies and work, this tutor has developed excellent organisation and time management skills, which flow directly into how she structures tutoring sessions. She is used to meeting deadlines, planning ahead, and keeping track of multiple responsibilities at once. Kaya often breaks larger tasks into smaller, achievable goals, helping students tackle homework, essays, and revision without feeling overwhelmed. Parents can expect clear communication, consistent session routines, and a tutor who models strong study habits.

Engaging sessions that connect learning to real-world interests

Kaya brings a warm, down-to-earth personality to tutoring, drawing on her interests in psychology, criminology and community work to make English and maths feel relevant to real life. She has experience independently creating a detailed resource guide in a previous role, showing she can design useful materials tailored to specific needs. Outside study, she enjoys volleyball, horse riding and volunteering at an animal shelter, which she uses as relatable examples to keep students interested, especially those who respond well to practical or story-based learning.
