What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

Seeing the look on student's faces when I help them understand something they were unsure about is the best part of the job, and having parents come back to me and thank me for helping them is just as wholesome.

My Strengths as Tutor πŸ’ͺ

I struggled in maths before Year 11, so I can easily relate with students who find maths to be boring or overly complicated, especially in the lower years. I always try to make topics interesting and fun and ensure that I make the student want to come to tutoring, as opposed to them being obligated to.

Most important things I can do for a student πŸ…

Someone who can balance both fun and study in a lesson, making sure that the student both wants to be there and can learn everything they need to. Communicating with parents is also incredibly important as it ensures that they are aware of what is going on and feel secure knowing their child is going to be learning

About Hugo

Confident Maths Support from a High-Achieving Student

Hugo is a high-achieving maths student who completed advanced Mathematics Extension 1 and 2 with results above 85%, giving him a strong grasp of the concepts your child is learning now or will face in senior school. He understands the pressure of exams and uses his recent experience to explain ideas in clear, student-friendly language. This tutor focuses on building both understanding and exam technique, so students gain confidence as well as marks.

Proven One-on-One Tutoring for Senior School Maths

Hugo has worked as a one-on-one mathematics tutor for senior high school students, especially those preparing for their final school exams. He designs personalised lesson plans, breaks down complex questions into simple steps, and shows students how to structure answers to maximise marks. By regularly checking in on goals and progress, he helps students move from β€œgetting lost in the middle steps” to completing full solutions independently.

Leadership, Discipline and a Calm Teaching Style

Beyond academics, Hugo brings strong leadership and discipline from his time in a structured cadet program, where he learned to plan, follow clear procedures and perform under pressure. He has also served on a university student society subcommittee, coordinating events and communicating with a wide range of people. In tutoring sessions, this translates into well-organised lessons, calm guidance when students feel stuck, and a reliable, mature presence that parents can trust.
