What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
What I enjoy most about tutoring is explaining concepts in ways that match each student's learning style. Every student understands material differently, so I find it rewarding to adapt my teaching methods to what works best for them. I particularly enjoy the challenge of finding new ways to explain ideas until they are clear for the student. Through this process, I also get to explore concepts more deeply and think about how they apply in different contexts when solving problems. I believe that tutoring allows me to combine problem-solving with continuous learning while helping students.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I believe my main strengths as a tutor are patience and optimism. When a student struggles with a concept or problem, I take the time to start from the fundamentals and make sure they understand each step before moving on. Rather than simply showing them the solution, I encourage students to share their ideas and work through the problem with me. I also give continuous positive feedback and emphasise the positive side of making errors while learning. This helps students build confidence and encourages them to engage more actively, rather than passively absorbing information.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe the most important things a tutor can do are to foster curiosity and build a student's confidence. Encouraging students to study a subject for a deeper purpose, rather than simply aiming for high grades, helps them develop genuine interest and motivation to learn. When students become curious, they are more likely to explore ideas independently and develop a stronger understanding of the material. In a smaller supportive tutoring environment, students feel more comfortable making mistakes and asking questions. This helps students develop self-esteem which improves their academics.
