What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I enjoy being able to interact and help teach people younger than me. I enjoy working through the learning process and seeing students progress their knowledge. Also, it gives me a chance to reflect on the lower levels/basis of my knowledge.

My Strengths as Tutor πŸ’ͺ

I have learned very strong study practices which I can pass on. I did very well in year 11 and 12 using these practices.

Most important things I can do for a student πŸ…

Ensure the student is comfortable to ask any questions, and to be able to clearly walk through each of the steps in a question. Teach them both the process and steps to solve all the questions, but also be able to teach some of the theory behind it.

About Angus

High-achieving STEM student who understands the school system

Angus is a top-performing senior student with a strong track record in Maths and Science, finishing in the top 1% of students in his state. He knows exactly what is expected in assessments and how to break complex ideas into manageable steps for younger learners. Having recently navigated the curriculum himself, he can explain tricky concepts in clear, student-friendly language and share practical study and exam strategies that actually work in real classrooms.

Proven leadership, initiative and mentoring mindset

Through earning both Bronze and Silver levels of the Duke of Edinburgh Award, Angus has led group activities, planned projects and learned how to motivate others to stay on track with long-term goals. He regularly helps classmates with homework and revision, explaining Maths and Science problems step by step until they make sense. This tutor brings patience, structure and a calm, encouraging style that helps students build confidence rather than feel judged.

Relatable role model with strong organisation and real-world interests

Angus combines strong academic skills with a down-to-earth personality and wide interests, including basketball, hiking and model building. These hobbies help him connect with students who might not usually enjoy schoolwork, using real-life examples and hands-on explanations to make Maths and Science feel relevant. His experience juggling volunteering, part-time work and school has built excellent time management and organisation, so sessions are well planned, focused and tailored to each student’s needs.
