What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

The most I enjoy about tutoring is the ability to share past knowledge and to be able to pass that on, knowing that I have helped contribute to the individual success of a student.

My Strengths as Tutor πŸ’ͺ

As a tutor, my strengths come in the form of communication as I have had previous experience in coaching which enables me to be able to understand student needs and to explain the relevant topics in a way students will understand.

Most important things I can do for a student πŸ…

The most important things to me as a tutor are being patient, keeping things clear, and being flexible. Not everyone learns the same way, so I try to explain stuff in a few different ways until something clicks. I always check to see if my approach is actually helping or if we need to switch it up. At the end of the day, I want them to feel more confident, not just get the right answer.

About david

Energetic Year 12 student who connects naturally with young learners

David is a Year 12 student who relates easily to both primary and high school students, making lessons feel comfortable and engaging rather than intimidating. With strong public speaking experience and debating involvement, he explains ideas clearly and confidently, whether it’s walking through a tricky maths step or unpacking an English question. His background in a social justice society also means he listens well and respects different perspectives, helping students feel heard and supported in their learning.

Experienced youth coach with proven leadership and communication

As a qualified basketball coach, David regularly plans and runs sessions for beginners through to advanced players, focusing on clear instruction, step-by-step skill building and constructive feedback. He has completed a formal coaching course where he learnt how to manage groups, keep students engaged and cooperate effectively with other coaches. This tutor brings the same structure to tutoring sessions, breaking down complex tasks into manageable parts and motivating students to keep improving.

Patient, organised tutor who builds confidence and independence

Through coaching and other leadership roles, David has developed strong teamwork, persuasion and problem-solving skills that translate directly into tutoring. He is used to adapting explanations for different ages and abilities, whether that means using sports examples to make a maths concept click or guiding a student to refine their written responses. Parents can expect a tutor who is punctual, organised and focused on helping students become more confident and independent, not just getting them through the next test.
