Jaycee is a biomedical science student who already has hands-on experience tutoring younger high school students one-on-one in Maths and Biology. She has learnt how to break tricky ideas into simple, step-by-step explanations and adjust her approach to each student’s pace. As a fluent speaker of both English and Mandarin, she can support students who are bilingual or still building confidence in English, helping them understand concepts clearly rather than just memorising answers.
Through school-based volunteering, Jaycee has spent regular time helping younger students and chatting with people from different backgrounds, including residents at a retirement home. These experiences have strengthened her ability to listen carefully, ask the right questions, and make students feel comfortable admitting when they are stuck. She uses lots of examples, checks understanding often, and encourages students to talk through their thinking so that lessons feel like a conversation, not a lecture.
Jaycee’s time playing violin in a symphony orchestra shows she is disciplined, punctual and committed to regular practice—habits she brings into her tutoring. She helps students plan their study time, break homework into manageable chunks, and prepare calmly for tests. Having designed a small project creating and presenting gifts for a retirement home, she enjoys making learning more engaging with practical examples and real-life links, especially in science topics that connect to everyday life and health.
