What do I enjoy most about tutoring? ๐
I enjoy helping people realise that a concept is actually simpler than it first seems. When something is broken down properly and finally clicks, I like being part of that moment.
Tutoring also reinforces my own basics. Explaining something to someone else helps me understand it more clearly too. I enjoy seeing the people I teach become more confident after understanding something they struggled with, and I like when it motivates them to study more and collaborate with me.
My Strengths as Tutor ๐ช
As a Monash University student, I've developed strong foundations in my subjects. I can explain concepts clearly and patiently, and I don't mind going over something more than once if needed.
I try to adjust my explanations depending on the student. If one method doesn't work, I'll try a different approach. Iโm also friendly and approachable, so students feel comfortable asking questions.
Most important things I can do for a student ๐
I think it's important to see things from the studentโs point of view. Since I'm also a student, I understand how it feels when something doesnโt make sense straight away. Instead of just pointing out mistakes, a tutor should understand where the confusion started and help the student learn the concept properly.
Encouragement also makes a difference. When students feel supported, it helps them feel more confident and comfortable asking questions.
