What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

What I enjoy most about tutoring is seeing that moment when a difficult concept finally clicks. Having helped batch mates, juniors, and Year 12 students, I enjoy breaking down complex engineering and maths ideas into simpler, more practical explanations. I like adapting my approach to suit different learning styles and using real-world examples where possible. It’s really rewarding to see students build confidence and improve, and at the same time, tutoring helps reinforce and deepen my own understanding.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

My strengths as a tutor are my ability to break down complex concepts into simple, easy to understand steps and adapt my teaching style to suit different learners. Being an engineering student, I also like using logical explanations and real-world examples to make topics more relatable. I’m patient and approachable, which helps students feel comfortable asking questions, and I focus on building their confidence as well as their understanding.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I think the most important things a tutor can do are to build a student’s understanding, confidence, and independence. It’s not just about giving answers, but helping them learn how to approach problems and think critically. A good tutor should also adapt to the student’s learning style, be patient, and create a comfortable environment where they feel okay to ask questions. Ultimately, the goal is to help the student become confident enough to solve problems on their own.

About Praveen

Strong Maths Foundations from Engineering Studies

Praveen is an engineering undergraduate with a solid grounding in maths, logical thinking, and problem-solving. Through his studies in mechanical and mechatronic engineering, he works daily with algebra, trigonometry, calculus, and data interpretation, which translates directly into clear explanations for school-level maths. He is used to breaking down complex formulas into step-by-step methods and can show students how classroom maths links to real-world technology, from simple measurements to automated systems.

Clear Communicator and Student-Focused Mentor

This tutor has developed strong communication skills by leading student teams and running workshops for peers. As a team lead for a technical society, he planned events and guided others through challenging concepts, giving him experience explaining ideas in multiple ways until they click. Praveen is patient and calm, and he encourages students to “think out loud”, helping them build confidence, not just get the right answer. He tailors explanations to different learning styles, whether visual, hands-on, or step-by-step.

Practical, Problem-Solving Approach to Learning

Praveen brings a practical edge to tutoring, drawing on projects like designing an automated waste-sorting system and programming conveyor and robotic simulations. He uses these experiences to create relatable examples and simple diagrams that make abstract maths topics feel concrete and interesting. This tutor helps students learn how to set out their working logically, check their answers, and approach tricky problems systematically—skills that support success in both maths and science throughout primary and high school.
