What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I enjoy the one-on-one aspect of tutoring the most, as it allows me to clearly see the impact of my teaching on a student’s progress. I find it really rewarding to get to know each student, understand how they learn best, and tailor my support to their individual needs. Through my casual relief teaching, I’ve worked across whole-class, small-group and individual settings, and I’ve found that I particularly enjoy the personalised support that tutoring provides and seeing students grow in both understanding and confidence.

I believe the most important thing a tutor does is create a safe, supportive, and trusting learning environment where students feel confident to engage, ask questions, and take risks in their learning. When students feel valued and comfortable, they are more open about their challenges, which allows tutoring to be truly effective. Another important role of a tutor is analysing student data, such as how they approach problems, their responses, and their overall learning progress. This allows the tutor to identify each student's strengths and areas for improvement, and tailor their teaching.
