What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
A lot of students come in thinking they’re “bad at maths,†especially with subjects like Mathematics Methods or Specialist Mathematics. Then you break it down a different way, and suddenly they get it and their whole attitude shifts. That confidence boost is huge.
I also like the problem-solving side of it. You’re not just teaching content, you’re figuring out how that specific person learns best. Some need visuals, some need step-by-step logic, some just need someone to slow it down without judgment.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
One of my main strengths is explaining things in a way that actually makes sense to the student, not just repeating the textbook. If someone doesn’t get a concept, I can break it down in different ways until it clicks, especially in subjects like Mathematics Methods where understanding the logic really matters.
I’m also patient and don’t rush students. A lot of people struggle because they feel pressured or judged, so I focus on creating a comfortable environment where they can ask questions freely.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important thing is helping the student actually understand the material, not just memorise it. Once they understand why something works, they can apply it to different problems, which is especially important in subjects like Mathematics Applications and higher-level maths.
It’s also really important to build the student’s confidence. A lot of students already feel like they’re “bad†at a subject, and that mindset holds them back. A good tutor helps change that by showing progress and reinforcing what they’re doing right.
