What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
During highschool I found it really enjoying and rewarding to help my peers when they struggle on topics I had a better understanding of. I enjoy helping students go from feeling stuck to actually understanding a concept. Its rewarding to see their confidence grow and for them to realise they're capable of doing the work on their own.My Strengths as Tutor 💪
Im patient and good at breaking down complex ideas into simple, easy-to-understand steps. I also adapt my explanations depending on the student, because I know everyone learns differently. For example instead of teaching the student a fixed way of approaching a question, I would try and make real life comparisons to make it intuitive, and I would try and figure out what exact area of knowledge he is lacking that is causing him to get stuck.Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I like to explain concepts in a clear and simple way, while adapting to how each student learns best. Instead of just showing students the answer, I try to guide them through the thinking process and slowly build up their confidence.

Luis struggles with drawing up graph visualisations, and differentiating between independent and dependent variable making it hard for him to know what goes on the x axis and what goes on the y axis. He also had his own method of finding the median but the method does not work across all questions.

Lizzie main improvement lies in algebra, and after the term break, it seems like that her algebra has weakened due to the lack of practice. Most of the questions she struggled with are becuase of algebra. For her to improve in algebra, the only way is to do more questions, and starting from now I will also begin the lesson with giving her a short 5 minute quiz on algebra. But solely relying on the one hour session per week to improve on algebra would see little to no results, so she really needs to start doing more practice questions in her own time to consolidate and improve. I believe this would greatly improve both her test results and her tutoring sessions as well, becuase right now I am spending most of the tutoring session repeatedly going through the algebra taught in previous weeks.

Luis currently gets area and perimeter mixed up sometimes, causing minor mistakes when doing questions. Luis is also weak at verbal questions where instead of the shape given to him in the question, the question asks in a verbal sense. Luis also needs to work on building a better understanding of area and the formulas used when calculating the circumference. pi = C/d.
Luis was able to convert units from mm to cm, cm to m using multiplication easily.
