What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
The fulfillment of helping a student understand unfamiliar concepts, knowing that I played a direct role in their academic success. In addition to simply educating a student on the required curriculum, I enjoy being able to improve the mental health of students during times of high stress by providing them with the support that only a recently graduated student can provide about the uncertainty that university and life beyond high-school can bring.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
Across multiple contexts (sports, high-school run outdoor education leadership programs, and my current work) I have been praised for having a relaxed teaching style that allows students to learn in a comfortable, judgement free environment. I excel in reducing complex topics into easy to understand pieces of information by focusing on connecting new topics to existing knowledge that students have. My style of teaching has the particular advantage of putting students at ease as they grapple with the pressure that performing brings, which I deliver through my easy going attitude.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
A tutor provides a student with the platform to perform at their highest academic potential. This is achieved by ensuring a student has an adequate understanding of key concepts and the targeted material to practice those concepts in an exam environment. The important difference between a tutor and a teacher is that a student gives a student the attention a teacher cannot provide given their higher workloads. This is done through personalized feedback and one-on-one targeted academic support on the specific needs of the student in a more accessible and personal context.
