The most important things a tutor can do for a student is analyse how their students thinking style works currently and adapt their teaching method around that. Positive reinforcement and constructive feedback are also very important as well. Finally, giving the student multiple chances to actually prove to the tutor that they are understanding the content and improving in areas that they were struggling in before.

About Thomas

Academic Background

Hi, I’m Thomas, a UTS Business graduate with Distinction, majoring in Finance and Information Technology. Throughout university I achieved a strong academic record, including multiple High Distinctions in quantitative and analytical subjects. As a tutor, I aim to make tutoring an encouraging, engaging and confidence-building experience for students. Rather than simply giving answers, I focus on helping students genuinely understand concepts, improve problem-solving skills, and develop confidence in their own abilities. I understand that every student learns differently, so I adapt my teaching style to suit each individual student’s needs and learning pace.

Experience Working With Students

Alongside tutoring, I have extensive experience working with young students through coaching and mentoring roles. I currently coach junior basketball and have worked across large school sporting programs, helping students stay motivated, focused and engaged in structured learning environments. These experiences have strengthened my communication, patience and ability to connect with students of different ages and personalities. I aim to create a positive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and building confidence over time.
