What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
I really enjoy being part of another person's success by breaking the ice and putting my own knowledge to good use. Studying Calculus 2 at the University of Melbourne myself, I know some topics feel like a wall until they're explained the right way.
There is a satisfaction that comes with communicating complex ideas and I still crave it.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
My main strength is building intuition for students. I emphasise understanding the "why" over the "what" because from my background in Informatics Olympiad (NZ), recognising patterns and using small tricks is a key factor to success in math, physics, and coding. Also, I have experience tutoring NCEA and Cambridge courses like math, physics, and computer science which together translate well into VCE specialist maths, applied computing, and algorithmics.
Most important things I can do for a student π
The most important thing a tutor can do is build a studentβs independent confidence. I don't want to hand them the answer. I want them to be able to handle the exam when I'm not there. I also believe in being a relatable mentor. As a first year university student, I can show them that the hard work they're doing has a clear path to success in the future.
