What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
The moment a concept finally clicks for a student - you can see the shift in their confidence almost immediately. I genuinely enjoy breaking down complex ideas into simple, intuitive steps. As a Computer Science student at UWA, I spend a lot of time solving hard problems from first principles, and tutoring lets me bring that same mindset to helping students build real understanding rather than just memorising formulas.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My main strengths are patience, clear communication, and the ability to explain the same concept multiple ways until one lands. As President of the UWA Photography Club and through past roles at Nando’s, I’ve developed strong interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt to different people quickly. I’m also technically very strong in mathematics - it underpins my entire degree - so I can tutor with confidence from primary level through to HSC/ATAR.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Build confidence first, then competence. Many students who struggle with maths don’t lack ability - they’ve been made to feel they’re “not a maths person.†The most important things a tutor can do are: (1) meet students where they are without judgement, (2) focus on understanding over rote learning so skills transfer to unseen problems, and (3) give consistent, constructive feedback that helps students trust their own reasoning. The goal should always be to make yourself redundant — a student who can think independently has genuinely been helped.
