As someone who has been through the school systems whilst piggy-backing anxiety, I understand the struggles, insecurities, and lack of motivation that burdens us during these years. I understand that everyone is different and has different needs when it comes to learning to be comfortable and effectively approach the content. As a tutor, I aim to create a safe environment accustomed to each student I meet to ensure a healthier relationship between adolescents/children and education.
Unfortunately, a lot of students drop out or stop trying at early stages of their education due to struggles and insecurities regarding how smart they are. I believe that there is no such thing as a "dumb" person. Instead, I believe that the difference between higher and lower grades in certain subjects is caused by the individual's fascination with the topic. For example, a student may find history intriguing and receive high marks in these classes, while they find mathematics boring and difficult and receive low marks. Because of this, I aim to discover the easiest ways for each student to understand and retain information so they can still receive desired grades in subjects they do not enjoy.
I find helping others gratifying, especially when it results in boosted self-confidence and inner-pride. Everyone deserves to feel they are worthy and capable of completing whatever levels of education they desire. Everyone has a picture-perfect future in their mind, and academics should not be the deciding factor in making it a reality. When I help students, I aim to not only help them academically, but emotionally too. By this, I mean I want to be able to restore their confidence and develop strategies that will help them with their future education. Strategies that will improve skills in individual learning and study so they can begin to easily understand content on their own and pursue further education with belief in themselves.
