What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
What I enjoy most about tutoring is the moment a student moves from frustration to understanding, that visible shift from “I don’t get this†to “Oh, that actually makes sense.†I experienced this while tutoring younger musicians in the Chamber Strings Support program at Prince Alfred College. Watching someone slowly build confidence as they master a difficult concept or skill is genuinely rewarding. In chemistry and physics, where abstract ideas can feel overwhelming, helping a student find their own “aha†moment is what makes tutoring deeply satisfying for me.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My greatest strengths as a tutor are clarity, adaptability, and patience. My ATAR of 99.65 with merits in English and Physics reflects not just my own understanding but my ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear, logical way, a skill I’ve sharpened through sales roles at David Jones and Myer, where I learned to explain products and solve problems for customers under pressure. Additionally, my experience leading younger students at Outreach Camps and the Zoo Snooze Program taught me how to adjust my approach for different personalities and learning styles.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe the most important things a tutor can do for a student are threefold. First, build confidence, many students already know more than they think, but anxiety or past frustration gets in the way. A tutor should help them trust their own ability. Second, teach how to think, not just what to think. In subjects like chemistry and physics, memorising formulas isn’t enough. A tutor should guide students to break down unfamiliar problems step by step, just as I learned to do in my own studies. Third, be patient and approachable, a student should never feel embarrassed to ask a question.
