What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy the engagement and the accomplishment when the student reaches clarity the most. In class, students are often shy to ask questions, but during tutoring, they feel safe enough to open up. Being able to adapt to their learning style and help them build a solid foundation gives me huge satisfaction.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I believe my strengths are communication and adaptability. As someone who finished high school in China and university in Australia, I can relate to students from diverse backgrounds.
Furthermore, my experience as a Peer Mentor in UNSW has taught me that tutoring isn’t just about explaining concept—it’s about making students feel supported and capable.
Plus, my English skills allow me to explain concepts clearly and communicate effectively. I often helped first-year students with time management and study skills as peer mentor.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I think the most important thing is creating a safe and positive learning environment for students, building a strong foundation of trust and understanding. A tutor shouldn’t just teach content—they should help students develop effective learning habits and grow in confidence.
When a student feels understood and supported, they are more likely to trust you and enjoy the process. They naturally try harder, ask more questions, and make real progress. Long-term growth and self development is much more important than improving grades for a subject.
