What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I've always been passionate about teaching. something about helping people internalise concepts that they struggle with gives me a lot of joy. I've always found myself in positions where I've had the privilege of tutoring my peers and my underclassmen. In all those instances, I've found amazing joy in helping others and in the process itself. It's a wonderful feeling trying to navigate through the difficulties in their mind, as I'm also trying to understand where they're coming from. It's almost like a game of chess and flying an airplane at the same time, as weird as that sounds, Haha!

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I try to understand them before I try and understand the problem! This has always been my go to method whenever we hit a 'wall'. The thing is most times tutors are too adamant about doing things the way they do things, they never take the chance to stop and realise that they're tutoring a whole different individual who has a brain that works differently than theirs! It's one of my favorite things about tutoring that we may understand people better in the process of tutoring someone. And as a bonus, I'm much more likely to understand how to tutor and guide the person to better internalise.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

Be present and patient. Being patient is a given, as learning takes time and effort. But being present is underrated, in my opinion. Not just in physical presence, but in emotional presence. students need someone who believes that they can do this, whether its themselves or their tutors. Aside from that, I would again say that tutors need to understand their students and how they think, first and foremost, always.
