What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
For me, tutoring allows me to see my own students slowly develop their skills and become a diligent, focused student of their own. As someone who prioritises access to education and is conscientious about studies, it brings me joy to be able to both teach others and see them become more competent, independent and capable both in studies and who they are as a learner.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My strength comes from being able to break down problem questions and point out critical points to address, before synthesising already-learnt knowledge to fluidly adapt them. I have been remarked as someone whose creativity allows them to - for example - adapt a question to allow others to understand it better. It is this flexibility that I believe is my strongest asset as a tutor - I can both analyse and break down problem questions, and then adapt it in a way that the student will understand. For instance, explaining concepts in a way tailored towards the student's learning needs.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important thing a tutor can do is to ensure their student comes out with the confidence and competence required of a diligent learner. A tutor should not only mechanically explain and teach knowledge to a student - they should accomodate for the student's own learning needs, explain questions in a digestible, easy way and ensure the student feels encouraged to pursue their studies learnt from tutoring at all times through positive (yet equally constructive) feedback. I consider that such a focus on students' needs will be able to help them more so than simply teaching content.
