What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I enjoy taking responsibility for someone else's learning as it makes me sharpen my leadership skills. I am a people person - I love to interact and help others out in any area where I maintain an expertise. The combination of these two factors serves my desire to become a tutor. Many tutors have helped me when I struggled in high school, and being able to give back similarly would be a full-circle moment.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I am patient: I will work as long as it takes on a topic, and no question is stupid in my books. One of my biggest struggles with tutors was their inability to hear me out patiently with a tendency to jump from topic to topic in order to meet full syllabus requirements within a deadline. I would aim to strengthen a student on 5/10 topics rather than speed through all 10 with confidence in none. I would also aim to plan end-of-week quizzes so that the student can track their own progress and know where they are struggling.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

Forming a relationship with the student. It is important to make the student feel comfortable by creating an ongoing bond with them. This will establish a well-functioning dynamic between the tutor and student as the student will feel comfortable talking about their weakness in a topic or voice out doubts more often. Acting as a friend rather than a person of authority will make the student feel less intimidated to speak to the tutor.
