What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
Most enjoyable to me are the moments when an idea or concept finally clicks in for a student, when their eyes light up and a sudden wave of excitement seizes them, and they start to see the motivations behind the idea and try to extrapolate and use it to explain different phenomena or suggest applications.My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I believe that I am able to understand well the strengths of a student and adjust my teaching strategy to be centered around these. It is my philosophy to focus on what the student is already capable of and progressively build on top of that. This helps with student motivation as it makes the task more approachable from their perspective. I am also good at distilling difficult topics into simpler analogies and examples that are easy to understand, while still preserving the main aspects of the original concept.Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important thing would be to be able to empathise with the student and be not just a tutor but also a mentor. Learning is just as much about building confidence and motivation as it is about acquiring knowledge and understanding. This means being optimistic even when things don't work out as envisioned, and expending extra effort to make it easier for the student to recover. I am an enthusiast in the fields of Physics and Mathematics because of their thought-provoking and rigorously analytical nature. The logical maze of mathematical proofs and theorems, and the philosophical implications of physical ones, fill me with awe and excitement. Furthermore, the numerosity of ways in which the simple laws derived from these subjects can be combined to serve different applications is in itself another epitome of human creativity and ingenuity.
What tutoring means to me
To me, tutoring is a way of sharing with others things that fascinate me. I love helping students gain a fundamental understanding and broad knowledge of the topics in Physics and Mathematics. I aim to teach them to view the world with inquisitiveness and an analytical perspective, and encourage them to come up with creative and original ideas. In this way, I guide students into viewing technical areas like Physics and Mathematics as subjects to be intrigued and inspired by.
Tutoring Style
My approach to tutoring is very flexible and adaptive; I take into consideration the knowledge that the student already possesses and concepts that they are familiar with when introducing a new topic. I break down difficult topics into simpler blocks, using a variety of concrete examples and analogies to familiar ideas. By drawing connections between all the different chapters, I present my students with the bigger picture that helps reinforce understanding and allows them to appreciate the usefulness of the subject.
