What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I'd have to say, It's the joy of helping someone. I struggled a lot in school initially, until high school, when a teacher helped me out. She helped me with Coding, Encouraged me to get better at it, and that's what I ended up pursuing as my undergrad course back home (I have completed a Bachelors in Computer Science overseas, I'm now doing a masters in data Science at ECU).
If a teacher was able to change my life by teaching, I feel I could make a similar impact in a students life. I have not done any commercial tutoring, but through this way, I genuinely wish to change lives of students.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
- I'm pretty open minded, Having overcome struggles in uni and school, I feel I can help students by understanding them and help out by adapting to their scenario.
- My Tech background involved me having to breakdown complex tasks into simple executable steps, That's fundamental when it comes to teaching students, and helping them understand concepts
- As a last point, I'd say accountability. I am not gonna say that I'm perfect in everything, but wherever I make mistakes I am ready to take accountability, understand where I'm going wrong and improve, adapt and overcome any issues I face.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
- Understand the student, Every student is different. Some grasp concepts quickly, some need a visual way of learning and some just need encouragement. These can severely impact how a student performs.
- Break down lessons as simple as possible, I may know the concept, but if I can explain the concept as simple as possible, it helps the student and also shows that the tutor understands what theu are teaching.
- Motivate students, If I teach students without appreciating their efforts, chances are they will lose interest. Sure, it must not be overdone, but a bit of motivation goes a long way.
