What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
What I enjoy most is that moment when a student finally understands something they've been struggling with; I can actually see the confusion turn into confidence. Maths especially has that satisfying quality where everything clicks into place once the logic is clear.
I'm strong in maths and genuinely enjoy breaking down problems step by step to find where a student is getting stuck, then working through it together. With ICT, I bring real depth. I'm currently completing my Master's in Cyber Security, and I hold a Bachelor's in Computer Science, so I can connect concepts to real-world examples.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I think one of my biggest strengths is my calm nature. A lot of students come to tutoring already feeling frustrated or embarrassed that they don't understand something; if the tutor gets impatient or rushes them, it only makes that worse. I naturally take my time, never make a student feel silly for asking a question, and create a relaxed environment where they feel safe to make mistakes and learn from them.
Alongside that, I have strong subject knowledge; maths has always come naturally to me.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I think the most important thing is making the student believe they are capable of learning, before anything else. A lot of students arrive at tutoring already convinced they're 'just bad at maths' or that everyone else gets it except them. The first job of a tutor is to break down that belief.
That means reassuring them there is no rush, that it's completely okay to take things slowly, and that understanding something properly at their own pace is far more valuable than rushing through the content and staying confused.
