What do I enjoy most about tutoring? š
What I most enjoy about tutoring is assisting students overcome their barriers and weaknesses through utilising various teaching strategies and approaches. Furthermore, the moment when a student finally understands a specific topic is also very rewarding and satisfying, seeing them slowly grow their confidence and knowledge.
My Strengths as Tutor šŖ
My main strengths as a tutor include patience, communication and adaptability. I've developed these skills over my VCE journey, as well as tutoring other students and discovering various methods to improve and hone these strengths.
Most important things I can do for a student š
A crucial aspect a tutor can provide for a student would be shaping a student's inner monologue. Many students who may need tutoring aren't always lacking in knowledge, but rather lacking in confidence, thus having a tutor to reassure and encourage them to develop upon their self-belief.
Furthermore, another important aspect would be providing students with a rare, safe and judgement-free environment to express ideas, where as classroom settings are prone to peer pressure, distractions. and noise.

When working with Will, he clearly understood content well, and has improved and consolidated his understanding key properties of linear lines. Also began to understand the nature of quadratic functions, as this is a new topic.
Needs to focus on fully understanding the nature of quadratic functions, and properly knowing why certain parts of the graph behave as they do (positive/negative and steepness of graph). This will be worked upon by the homework that was given to Will in person.
Writing was smooth and vocabulary choices are starting to develop. Also understood key details and themes of the novel.

Can improve on an even smoother integration of embedding quotes and authorial intent. Could also expand word/phrase usage to create sentence variations in writing.
Will has a solid foundation on linear lines, he mostly understands its properties and can identify aspects such as x and y intercept, origin and gradient when asked.

Needs to be even more confident regarding his answers and thought process, he also needs to link the content he knows and understand, and apply that knowledge to questions he works on. However he is currently working on this through getting more comfortable with these types of questions.

Ciara needs to start highlighting and annotating in order to fully understand and analysis the text. Also work on structuring essay paragraphs by being specific regarding the topic sentence, and especially the evidence/analysis.
