What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

What I enjoy most is that moment when a concept finally clicks for a student, when something that felt confusing suddenly makes sense to them. I also really love when tutoring goes beyond just the syllabus. My own tutor used to check in on how I was doing more broadly, not just academically, and occasionally gave me guidance and encouragement outside of the subject itself. That made a real difference to me, and it's something I try to bring to my own students, being someone they can rely on, not just for Physics or Maths, but as a bit of a mentor too.

I'd say my biggest strength is patience combined with adaptability. I try different ways of explaining something until it actually lands for that specific student, rather than repeating the same explanation louder. I'm also genuinely invested in my students' progress, so I pay close attention to where they're struggling and adjust my teaching methods accordingly, whether that's using more visual examples, breaking a problem into smaller steps, or slowing down on fundamentals before moving forward. I think the most important thing is to genuinely listen and respond to what a student actually needs, rather than sticking rigidly to a script. Being honest with them, celebrating real progress and gently addressing real gaps, builds trust, and trust is what makes a student open up when they're struggling. Beyond the academics, I think a tutor should be a support system: encouraging students, checking in on their confidence and motivation, and occasionally mentoring them the way my own tutor did for me.
