What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
It's so rewarding to share the joy of progress with a student and their family! English skills seep into many aspects of adult life, so it's really vital that kids develop strong foundations at school. As someone who really enjoyed high school English and is currently pursuing a career in writing, editing and publishing, I've developed so many great techniques that I can share with students so that they can ace their exams and retain the principles of writing and analysis beyond their time at school.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I always make sure I tailor each lesson to the student based on their level of interest and proficiency, so that they can remain engaged and learn in a way that suits their personality. I'm prepared to approach each lesson with the student's interests, goals and learning style in mind. By showing up to each lesson with a positive attitude and willingness to listen to the student's needs and feedback, I believe I can provide a thorough and supportive tutoring experience regardless of the student's proficiency and aptitude.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to help them comprehend content, not just memorise it. Ensuring a student can thrive on their own in the classroom or in an exam is my fundamental goal, and I make sure that I provide thorough explanations and study strategies so that every student develops the ability to learn independently. A good tutor will be prepared to adapt to student and parent feedback and approach tutoring sessions based on their personal needs, and highlight the value of the student's personal wellbeing as they study.

About Jasmine
Strong academic foundations
I graduated as the #1 rank in my school for English Advanced, English Extension 1 and English Extension 2, achieving a study score of 48/50 across both of my Extension subjects. Following my graduation in 2024, I committed to a Bachelor of Media and Communications, where I currently major in journalism and writing, editing & publishing. Drawing from a thorough knowledge of industry-level writing practices, as well as both the HSC and VCE English syllabus, I provide a tailored tutoring experience for English students at any grade or level.
Hands-on industry experience
Outside of tutoring, I've gained valuable experience in the realms of writing and editing that largely informs the way I provide feedback in a constructive, detailed and uplifting manner. Through my undergraduate studies, I've had the opportunity to work as an editor for an established magazine. This role includes communicating with contributors and assessing the technical and conceptual quality of their work before editing structure and grammar for publication. These skills have been an integral part of my own learning, providing a new 'professional' perspective that I can apply (where reasonable) to my lesson plans.
Personable and creative approach
The most important aspect of my lessons is creativity. Particularly for students that are more hands-on learners or those who struggle to engage with traditional classroom setups, being a 'safe' person and approaching learning in a fun way can make all the difference to a student's performance. This might involve techniques such as memory games and relating each concept to a real-life example that resonates with them. I really value each student's personality and am super committed to improving their understanding with kindness and creativity.
