What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I genuinely enjoy helping people understand a topic I'm passionate about, especially because I've been that student who struggled with what looked like a simple math problem. From a selfish point of view really, I love to see the expression in the student's face when they finally figure out a difficult concept, because I know that liberating feeling all too well. Tutoring also helps me consolidate my own understanding, as explaining concepts or solving problems allows me to think about it from different perspectives.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I believe my biggest strengths are my patience and empathy. As the oldest sister, I've always been inclined to try comprehend other people's perspectives, allowing me to help them work through challenges at their own pace. I also believe tutoring is a two-way street. Students often ask questions that leave me pondering for a long time. Another key characteristic I extremely value in tutors is the ability to acknowledge mistakes and knowledge gaps. I have always told my students I can't promise to know all the answers, but I promise to put in my best effort to find one.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is guide them towards the answer, in a way that allows the student to fully understand a concept rather than just solve a specific question. The ultimate goal would be for the students to develop the confidence, ability and skills to solve problems on their own. So actually, the most important thing a tutor can do for a student, is to make themselves less necessary over time.
