What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy being able to transfer my knowledge into something useful for other people. I want to be able to further students' ability to enjoy their subjects further, and I enjoy seeing how their understanding furthers as I communicate with them, and develop their own problem-solving abilities.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I think my strengths as a tutor would be the ability to think from the students' point of view. I arrived in Australia at the end of Year 10, just when Year 10 Yearlies were starting. Starting high school education all over again was very daunting to me at the time, but I quickly realised that me lingering in that state would not provide any value in the long term. Despite being behind pretty much everyone in the cohort, I was able to pull myself up and graduate from my high school as a semi DUX.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Understanding where the student is at in that current moment, and being able to adjust lesson plans/styles/outside-of-tutoring work in order to keep the student motivated to continue on and at the same time not be overwhelmed by the amount of work they have in hand. This would mean that a tutor should be able to check in with the student regularly to see their committments and encourage them to speak up about necessary adjustments in future lessons.
