What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
As the eldest child, I have always been the person my younger siblings come to when they need help understanding something. I have really enjoyed explaining things in a way that makes sense to them and seeing that moment when they finally understand a concept. This is what I enjoy most about tutoring is being able to support someone's learning and help them become more confident in their abilities.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
One of my main strengths as a tutor is that I am a student myself, so I understand how difficult it can be to learn something when it is explained in a complicated way. I adapt my explanations to suit each student and make concepts simple and relatable. I also aim to create a non-judgemental environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and being honest about what they don't understand. I believe an environment like this gives the most space for growth.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe the most important thing a tutor can do is understand how a student learns and adapt their teaching style to suit them. Rather than expecting every student to understand a concept in the same way, I think it is important to be patient and find different ways of explaining something until it makes sense to them.
Ultimately, I want my students to not only understand the topic but also become more confident in their abilities. Seeing that understanding reflected in their progress and results would be one of the most rewarding parts of tutoring.

About Alicia
Engineering and Commerce Student at Monash University
Hi! My name is Alicia, and I am currently studying a double degree in Civil Engineering and Commerce at Monash University. I chose this path because I love combining the logical, step-by-step problem-solving of engineering with the communication and people-focused side of business. As a tutor, my goal is to make learning stress-free and engaging. I understand that every student learns differently, so I focus on breaking down complex, intimidating concepts into simple, everyday steps. Managing a demanding double degree has taught me excellent study habits and time-management skills, and I am excited to help my students build that same confidence in their own academic journeys!
Graduated from Mac.Robertson Girls' High
Having successfully gone through the selective school entry process and graduated from a top-tier institution, I deeply understand the challenges and pressures students face when striving for academic excellence. My tutoring approach goes beyond simple memorisation. I teach students how to think through difficult problems logically and confidently. Whether your child is preparing for selective school entrance exams, aiming to boost their high school grades, or looking to build rock-solid study habits from an early age, I am here to mentor and guide them every step of the way.
