I think the most important thing a tutor can do is make a student believe in themselves. A tutor can teach a concept, but the impact goes much further when they make a student feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and trying again. Sometimes students don’t struggle because they aren’t capable—they just need someone to be patient with them and remind them that they are capable. For me, the best tutor is someone who leaves their student feeling more confident than when they started.
