What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

The most enjoyable experience I have when tutoring is seeing students understand a problem they find difficult. I have tutored my younger sister for many years, from primary school through grade 9, and have taught groups of ESL beginners in private businesses. This task has taught me that every student will have different learning approaches, and I enjoy finding the right teaching method so they can understand more easily. But most of all, I enjoy seeing students become more confident and independent in their learning journey.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

My strengths as a tutor are patience, clear communication, and adaptability. From my tutoring experience, I have learned to explain things in different ways and adjust my approach based on what the student understands. My prior professional experience has also strengthened my ability to communicate effectively with a range of people. Moreover, having been tutored myself during my youth, I understand what it's like to be a student, finding certain topics difficult and finding problems frustrating. I understand that I would want my tutor to be patient and empathetic.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

One of the most important things a tutor can do is to understand the student's needs. They should provide a supportive environment where students can be comfortable making mistakes and asking questions. From my tutoring experience, I have learned that patience and encouragement are important because students have different learning habits. Hence, a tutor should assess their styles and match their pace to build up their understanding. A tutor should also guide students toward the answers rather than simply giving them away, so they learn to work independently and take ownership of the success.
