Listening to the student. As a tutor, I have limited time with each student, so I believe it is important to prioritise listening to what they need from me rather than simply pushing ahead with the material. By responding to their questions, concerns and areas of difficulty, I can tailor our sessions to what will be most valuable for them. About Zi
Experienced and Qualified Educator
I have recently completed my Bachelor of Early Childhood Education at Deakin University and have four years of tutoring experience working with students aged 5 to 12. Through both my studies and tutoring experience, I have developed a strong understanding of how children learn and the importance of adapting teaching to suit each individual student. I aim to make learning approachable and engaging while helping students build both their skills and confidence.
Student-Centred Approach
I believe one of the most important things I can do as a tutor is listen to my students. As tutoring time is limited, I want to understand what each student needs from me rather than simply pushing ahead with material. I adapt my explanations, pace and approach depending on the student, giving them the opportunity to ask questions, work through difficulties and focus on the areas where they need the most support.
Building Confidence
I want students to feel comfortable making mistakes and asking for help without feeling embarrassed or pressured. I aim to create a supportive learning environment where students can work at a pace that suits them while still being encouraged to challenge themselves. For me, tutoring is not only about helping a student answer a particular question, but also helping them develop the confidence and skills to approach future problems independently.
